Nellyville RuffRyders - 2009 Champions!

So, I guess the goal now is not to seed high in the playoffs... just barely make it in.  For the second year in a row... our Champion has come from the six seed.  The Mulchers were a one seed last season and lost to the Highlanders in the Final Game 28-27.  This year, Nellyville RuffRyders defeated The Mulchers 43-26.  With that, the six seed has now won as many Championships as any seed other than one.  

The RuffRyders got most of their game points from QB Peyton Manning.  The 15 points by Manning ties for the 5th most by a QB in a playoff game.  

Nellyville playoff hopes were slim two-thirds of the way through the regular season.  They only had three wins to show going into week 10 (3-5-1).  Then the big turnaround.  They swept through the final set of division games and stumbled into the playoffs at 6-5-1.  They averaged 43.7 points per game during the playoffs and end the season on a six game win streak.  The RuffRyders have now become a five time champion... adding to their wins in 1999, 2005, 2006 and 2007.  They also made a Championship Game in 2001... losing to the Lazy Brown Trouts 29-21. 

The Championship Game marked another milestone for Nellyville - it was their 100th win - the first team to reach that mark.  The next closest team is Team CarRamRod with 80.  Most of those wins came in the 2000 to 2002 years in which they won two Championships. 

The RuffRyders have gone 46-22-2 over the past five seasons in which they have gathered in four Championships.  However, the real work now starts as contract expirations have caught up (finally!).  Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Ladainian Tomlinson, Dallas Clark, Vernon Davis, Antonio Gates, Phil Dawson and John Kasay have all played their last RuffRyder game with the exception of one that can be carried over to 2010 and anyone that might happen to be re-drafted.
